Job summary

Family Dollar in Dalhart, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day store activities, ensure a safe, clean environment, and support the Store Manager in training and supervising Store Associates.

The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to customer service excellence in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical store tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Move merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays; ensure planogram compliance.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow policies.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Clean and restock bathrooms, sweep and mop floors, take out trash, keep areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
