Job summary

PCC Portland Community College is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in ASL / English Interpreting. This is a unique opportunity for qualified individuals to potentially fill substitute and full-term positions as they arise during the Academic Year.

The ideal candidates will possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant field or an AAS/BA in Sign Language Interpretation, along with certification and experience in teaching. Eligible candidates must reside in Oregon or Washington.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Interpreting or related field or AAS/BA in Sign Language Interpretation with RID Certification.
• Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf required.
• Three years of teaching experience in college-level interpreting or ASL.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in sign language interpretation and ASL.
• Deliver lectures, develop course materials, and assess students.
• Contribute to curriculum development and participate in mentorship activities.

Skills

Native or near-native ASL proficiency

Teaching experience in American Sign Language

Curriculum development

Mentoring interpreters

Education

Master’s Degree in related field or AAS/BA with RID Certification
