Job summary

State Center Community College District is seeking an ASL interpreter to provide interpreting and transliteration services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, faculty and staff across classrooms and events. Qualifications

• Associate degree in education, social services or related field, or graduation from an Interpreter Training Program.
• At least one year of interpreting experience in an educational setting.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret ASL in classrooms, labs and varied settings, including events and meetings; transliterate materials when needed.
• Consult with faculty to identify problems and advise on communication approaches for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students.
• Follow NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and advocate for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students in challenging situations.
• Contribute to equity-minded practices and demonstrate cultural competency in interactions with students and staff.
