Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer experience using Windows-based software; knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Associates degree preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Receive Non Gynecological & Surgical specimens after verifying that specimen acceptance criteria have been met.
• Assign case accession numbers to Non Gynecological & Surgical specimens according to workflow procedure.
• Identify and report problems that may affect test performance or reporting of results.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specifications.
• Order referral testing in the LIS for Anatomic Pathology specimens per procedure.
• Prepare, stain and cover-slip NGYN cytology and Surgical Frozen Section specimens.
• Track specimen retention under CAP guidelines.
• Stock client supplies and fill outreach stock as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-supplied work area and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Promote lab and hospital safety practices and participate in QA activities.
