Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Lab Assistant for a part-time, 20 hours per week position. The role involves handling non-gynecological and surgical specimens, processing slides, and ensuring accurate reporting to support patient diagnosis and care.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and familiarity with laboratory workflows; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience with clinical laboratory procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

Receive Non Gynecological & Surgical specimens after verifying acceptance criteria.
Assigns case accession numbers to Non Gynecological & Surgical specimens according to workflow procedure.
Identify problems that may affect test performance and notify supervisor or laboratory director.
Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
Order referral testing in the LIS on Anatomic Pathology specimens according to procedure.
Prepare, stain and cover-slip NGYN cytology and Surgical Frozen Section specimens.
