Job summary

RFCUNY's Brooklyn College Community Partnership is seeking part-time Activity Specialists to lead after-school STEAM and enrichment activities for COMPASS programs in Brooklyn. You will design lessons, organize activities, and guide youth toward culminating projects and performances.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of supervisory experience, with strong organizational and communication skills, and knowledge of NYC DOE procedures.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of NYC DOE Public School system.
• Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Interest in community work and youth development.
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Design, organize, and lead high-quality activities within the assigned specialty area.
• Create lesson plans aligned with program objectives and development.
• Foster a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants.
• Facilitate hands-on experiences that promote skill-building and collaboration.
• Prepare participants for culminating events such as Artsfest.
• Provide support for homework help and program-wide activities.
• Keep attendance and activity documentation in DYCD compliance.
• Attend weekly check-ins with supervisor and participate in professional development.
• Notify the Program Director of incidents and ensure timely reporting.
• Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring and guidance.
• Comply with NYC DOE, DOHMH, DYCD, and NYS SACC regulations.
