Job summary

Flatbush Development Corporation in Brooklyn seeks a Group Leader to supervise participants and support engaging afterschool activities for grades K–8. You will help with homework, manage groups, and ensure safety and alignment with DYCD/DOH/NYCDOE guidelines.

This is part-time, up to 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, at $18 per hour. The role emphasizes youth development, positive behavior support, and collaboration with site staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college or coursework in education or youth development preferred.
• Experience working with school-age children (K–8) in afterschool, camp, or youth development settings.
• Ability to lead activities, manage groups, and engage youth with diverse needs and backgrounds.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervising program participants at all times during program operation, including off-site trips.
• Providing active homework assistance to ensure engagement during homework time.
• Planning and implementing engaging academic enrichment and recreation activities.
• Utilizing positive youth development principles to foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Participating in meetings and workshops to develop professional skills and improve program quality.
• Adhering to safety procedures and reporting any incidents or behaviors impacting quality of service.
