Job summary

Flatbush Development Corporation in Brooklyn seeks a Group Leader to create a safe, engaging afterschool environment for participants in grades K-8. You will supervise groups, support activities, and help ensure program components meet DYCD/DOH/NYCDOE guidelines.

You will plan and implement literacy, STEAM, and youth development activities, provide homework support, and collaborate with staff to foster positive relationships while maintaining a structured, nurturing atmosphere.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
Experience with school-age children (K-8) in afterschool or youth programs.
Ability to lead activities and manage groups.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must pass background checks and DOE clearance.

Responsibilities

Supervise program participants during all activities.
Assist with safe pick-up and drop-off of participants.
Provide active homework assistance during homework time.
Plan and implement engaging literacy, STEAM, and youth development activities.
Create and maintain a safe, organized activity space and follow the program schedule.
Participate in meetings and trainings to enhance professional skills.
