YMCA of West Central Florida is seeking a part-time afterschool staff member in Lakeland, FL 33810 to supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values. The role emphasizes safety, healthy snacks, and positive parental relations.

Applicants should be at least 16, with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have or obtain CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days. Prior youth program experience is preferred; training courses are offered by YMCA.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience preferred in arts, sports, aquatics, or recreational games.
• CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
• Complete YMCA New Employee Orientation e-learning course.
• Complete YMCA Policy and Procedures for New Employees within 60 days of employment.
• Begin state-mandated child care classes within 90 days of employment and complete within one year.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred; ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate program activities.

Responsabilités

• Implements planned program curriculum within established guidelines.
• Incorporates YMCA Afterschool Program activity components.
• Ensures each child receives a nutritious daily snack.
• Assists in all planned activities including sports and events.
• Conducts ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains safety, setup, and cleanliness standards.
• Attends required staff meetings and at least 10 hours of in-service per year.
• Follows YMCA policies including medical and disciplinary procedures and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relations with parents and staff; models Listen First.
• Supports HEPA standards and healthy lifestyle promotion.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
