RFCUNY is seeking part-time Academic Tutors for its Brooklyn College COMPASS middle school program. Tutors provide individualized and small-group support to middle school students in the after-school program.

Qualifications include being an undergraduate student majoring in Math or English (bachelor’s preferred), with at least 2 years of tutoring or mentoring experience, and strong knowledge of the NYC DOE Public School system.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student majoring in Math, English, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or working with middle school students.
• Content expert in the designated subject area.
• Strong knowledge of the NYC DOE Public School system.
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace.
• Commitment to equity and to implementing culturally responsive teaching practices.

Responsabilités

• Provide individual and small-group tutoring in Math and ELA
• Assist students with homework, class assignments, projects, test preparation, and skill development
• Assess students’ academic needs and adjust instructional approaches to address individual learning needs
• Collaborate with school day teachers to ensure alignment with classroom learning
• Help students develop study skills, organization, time-management, and problem-solving strategies
• Maintain appropriate records of tutoring activities, student participation, and academic progress
• Communicate relevant student needs and progress to the Program Director
• Comply with NYC DOE, DOHMH, DYCD, and NYS SACC regulations
• Other duties as assigned
