Job summary

Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) seeks part-time Academic Tutors for the COMPASS middle school program at Brooklyn College. Tutors provide individualized and small-group support in Math and ELA after school, helping students with homework, test prep, and skill development.

The role requires at least 2 years tutoring experience and strong communication skills, with a dedication to equity and culturally responsive teaching.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student majoring in Math or English (or related field) is required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or working with middle school students.
• Content expert in the designated subject area with strong knowledge of NYC DOE system.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to equity and inclusive teaching.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group tutoring in Math and ELA to middle school students.
• Assist with homework, class assignments, projects, test prep, and skill development.
• Assess students’ academic needs and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with school-day teachers to align with classroom learning.
• Maintain records of tutoring activities and student progress; communicate with Program Director.
• Comply with NYC DOE, DOHMH, DYCD, NYS SACC regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
