Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Personal Support Specialist to help adults with disabilities participate meaningfully in the community. The role focuses on promoting independence, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring access to health and social services.

Responsibilities include supporting daily schedules, attending medical appointments, transporting clients, and collaborating with a care team to implement the Individual Plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; verification of foreign equivalency may be required.
• At least 1 year of experience supporting persons with disabilities or behaviorally challenged.
• Experience in behavior management, crisis intervention, and hands-off problem-solving is a plus.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create experiences that promote individuals' interests, choices, and personal growth.
• Assist individuals in discovering and pursuing new interests.
• Assist individuals in planning daily/weekly schedules and attending appointments.
• Transport individuals to activities within the community.
• Monitor health status and attend medical appointments when necessary.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and implement the Individual Plan.
• Encourage and support self-advocacy and independence.
