Job summary

Reach Incorporated, an award-winning out-of-school-time program in the District of Columbia, seeks enthusiastic Program Instructors to lead our After-School Tutoring Program. The Program Instructor (PI) plays a vital role in leading tutor training sessions on and supervising our teen tutors’ work with the elementary school students.

The PI must be an exceptional relationship-builder, able to connect deeply with participants to promote engagement in our program.

Qualifications

• Must have youth development or mentoring experience.
• Experience teaching or tutoring, including high-school based teaching.
• Available weekdays 3:30-5:30 PM; part-time.
• Weekday after-school availability; weekend work possible.

Responsibilities

• Model instruction during tutor-training sessions.
• Coach tutors in literacy instruction.
• Build relationships with tutors.
• Assess tutor performance using Reach’s point system.
• Plan tutor outings using available funds.
• Ensure tutors lead tutoring sessions.
• Maintain positive program culture at the elementary school.
• Address behavior or learning challenges.
• Prepare for sessions by learning and delivering curriculum.
• Track attendance and student progress weekly.
• Engage parents to report progress and recruit participants.
