Job summary

School Connect WA is seeking a committed Program Assistant (part-time) to join our Dearborn Park Elementary team, working directly with elementary students and partnering with teachers.

You will lead daily small-group and large-group literacy and math instruction using SCWA materials, create a structured, joyful learning environment, and collaborate with staff to support students furthest from educational justice.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting elementary-age students in a school, tutoring, afterschool, or related setting.
• Ability to lead or support literacy and math instruction with both small and large groups.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and collaboration with students and adults.
• Ability to deliver structured instruction while remaining flexible and responsive to learners.
• Cultural humility and commitment to BIPOC, multilingual, low-income communities.
• Dependability and openness to feedback, contributing to a team culture.
• Must meet background check and screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily small-group literacy and math instruction with SCWA plans and materials.
• Prepare purposeful lessons with clear goals and accessible language for multilingual learners.
• Use assessments and classroom observations to tailor instruction and address gaps.
• Lead classroom with clear directions, transitions, and active student engagement.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and joyful learning environment with high expectations.
• Collaborate with Dearborn Park Elementary teachers, aides, and SCWA staff.
• Communicate progress observations and protect student and family confidentiality.
