Job summary

Read Better Be Better is seeking part-time After-School Literacy Program Coaches to guide a cohort of young Readers and Youth Leaders at our Saint Vincent DePaul Dream Center site in Phoenix, AZ.

The role involves facilitating the literacy program, tracking curriculum progress, maintaining a safe learning environment, and attending weekly coordinator check-ins and professional development. Training is provided; schedule is 5–10 hours per week with two program days.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Preferred candidates are enrolled in a relevant degree program (i.e. teaching, educational studies, youth & early childhood development, social justice, etc.).
• OR have experience working with children in a school setting.
• Classroom management skills and a patient personality are key components we look for in our Program Coaches.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the literacy program and guide a cohort of Readers and Leaders.
• Ensure curriculum progress and promote a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Attend essential paid training and onboarding prior to starting at assigned school.
• Meet weekly with Program Coordinator to share successes and address concerns; participate in professional development workshops.
• End the program with a graduation event at the assigned school.
