Job summary

Silver Knights Chess Academy is seeking a part-time Chess Instructor to teach elementary students after school. You will follow our curriculum to introduce piece movement, basic strategy, and checkmate concepts in small groups of 10-20 students. Training is provided and pay starts at $55 per hour, with additional setup/cleanup time.

Ideal candidates enjoy chess, have experience working with children, and can drive to schools with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in chess rules and basic strategy, or willing to learn.
• Experience or interest in teaching elementary-age children in a small group.
• Reliable vehicle for transportation to schools.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs of teaching equipment.
• Willingness to learn and use new software tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage a classroom of 10-20 students.
• Demonstrate and communicate basic chess rules and strategy from our curriculum.
• Promote good sportsmanship among students.
• Maintain and store teaching equipment and materials.
