Job summary

State of South Dakota (Department of Corrections - Clinical Services) in Rapid City seeks a part‑time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide routine and emergency medical care for offenders at the Rapid City Minimum Facility. Approximately 24 hours per week, on‑site, with on‑call duties as needed.

Licensure in South Dakota is required. Experience in Family or Internal Medicine and correctional settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant or NP in South Dakota.
• Experience in correctional/clinical settings preferred.
• Ability to perform routine and emergency care in a correctional facility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical/physical examinations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; diagnose conditions.
• Prescribe medications and treatment.
• Educate patients on preventive health.
• Provide on-site procedures and chronic care.
• Manage daily patient caseload including emergencies.
