Job summary

State of South Dakota’s Department of Corrections – Clinical Services seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive care in a correctional setting. You will diagnose, treat, order tests, prescribe medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support mental health patients.

Applicants must be licensed as a South Dakota NP, certified PMHNP by ANCC/ANA, and hold a valid DEA license.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of South Dakota as outlined by the appropriate regulating board.
• Certified by ANCC or ANA as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Current and valid DEA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of patients, treatment plans, and manage patient care.
• Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team and provide consults for mental health issues as needed.
• Establish diagnoses, order and interpret studies, monitor therapeutic procedures and follow-up care.
• Prescribe and regulate medications relative to the patient's health care needs.
• Maintain documentation of patient encounters and ensure HIPAA compliance.
