Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work on-site in a correctional facility. The role collaborates with the medical director and physicians to examine, treat, and manage patient health needs, including emergencies.

Responsibilities include sick calls, orders for labs, wound care, and discharge planning, with on-call weekly and 24 hours weekly on-site. A current license and DEA are required, with preference for correctional experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in state of employment.
• Active DEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substances.
• Minimum of one year clinical experience, correctional setting preferred.
• Experience with inmate healthcare and security procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and site staff on medical needs.
• Perform daily sick calls, examinations, and treatments.
• Review non-emergency conditions with physician guidance.
• Follow physician orders and coordinate care with health staff.
• Provide emergency care and arrange transfers when needed.
• Develop treatment plans with nursing staff.
• Conduct annual physicals and order labs.
• Document findings using standard methods and SOAPE.
• Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities.
