The St. James Performance Academy is seeking dependable and professional Substitute Teachers to support our student-athletes when regular educators are absent.

The Substitute Educator will ensure instructional continuity, uphold classroom expectations, and foster a structured, student-centered learning experience in an elite athletic environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
• Prior teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, coaching, or youth development experience preferred.
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different grade levels and learning needs.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and sound judgment.
• Must meet all applicable background screening and Academy employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Supervision: Implement assigned lesson plans when ASE is absent and maintain a productive classroom environment.
• Academic Support: Guide student-athletes in completing assignments and accessing learning resources.
• Student-Athlete Accountability: Enforce academy expectations related to attendance, engagement, and academic integrity.
• Classroom Management: Establish a respectful, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Communication & Reporting: Document attendance, participation, completed work, and concerns for ASE and leadership.
• Academic & Athletic Alignment: Balance academic responsibilities with training, travel, and competition.
• Technology & Learning Platforms: Use academy-approved platforms to support continuity of learning.
• Collaboration: Work with ASE, coaches, and leadership to ensure consistent support.
