Job summary

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Academic Support Specialist (Part-Time) position in the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech’s campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Academic Support Specialist provides comprehensive academic support to students enrolled in General Education coursework, with focus on gateway English and Mathematics.

Qualifications

• Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university AND two ( 2 ) years of directly related work experience.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in English, Mathematics, Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Experience in higher education academic support, tutoring, or student-success services is preferred.
• Experience supporting gateway English and/or Mathematics courses is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group academic tutoring and supplemental instruction.
• Deliver embedded/push-in support within assigned courses in collaboration with faculty.
• Identify students at risk of unsuccessful course completion and provide timely interventions.
• Develop individualized strategies to address identified academic deficiencies.
• Conduct workshops, seminars, study sessions, and other academic-success activities.
• Collaborate with faculty to reinforce course competencies and strengthen student learning.
• Establish productive working relationships with faculty, advisors, department chairs, and student-support personnel.
• Assist students in developing effective study habits, time-management, test-taking strategies, and academic self-advocacy.
• Support students across face-to-face, online, and hybrid modalities.
• Maintain records of student contacts, interventions, referrals, and outcomes; use data to identify trends and measure effectiveness.
• Participate in retention, persistence, completion, and student-success initiatives.
• Refer students to appropriate academic, financial, advising, counseling, and other resources.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with college policies and ethical standards.
• Participate in professional development and departmental meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
