Job summary

TMCC, under the Nevada System of Higher Education, is seeking a Part-Time Tutoring Assistant (ABE) at Meadowood Campus in Reno. You will provide individual and small group tutoring, assist with homework and study skills, and support program operations.

No prior tutoring experience required; paid on-the-job training is provided. Responsibilities include meeting with students on a regular schedule, reviewing class material, assisting with scheduling and communications, and upholding FERPA

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Multitasking, organization, prioritization, attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Familiarity with basic office equipment (scanners, fax, printers).
• Maintains confidentiality; supports decision making and information analysis.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team in a positive, professional manner.
• Sensitivity to diverse learners in an educational setting.
• Maintains a professional image and attire at all times.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexible scheduling up to 19 hours per week, Mon–Sat.
• Desire to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Preferred: bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to Adult Basic Education students as scheduled.
• Assist with study strategies and homework support.
• Participate in required paid training and meetings.
• Perform general clerical tasks and communicate via email.
• Prepare for and be ready for each tutoring session.
• Meet with Literacy Associate to discuss student progress.
• Support program operations and attendance tracking as needed.
• Enforce program regulations and FERPA confidentiality.
• Perform other duties of similar complexity as assigned.
