Job summary

The Town of Ocean City, MD is seeking a Parks Worker to perform turf care, park maintenance, and construction tasks under minimal supervision. You will operate hand and power tools and a range of equipment used by the Recreation & Parks Department.

Responsibilities include maintaining athletic fields, citing safety hazards, performing minor repairs, and assisting with special events. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DOT physical are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred with 1 year of paid work in operation of equipment used in this position.
• Must have experience operating vehicles with manual transmission and pedal clutch or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Oversee general appearance of assigned parks and athletic fields.
• Identify and report safety hazards in parks.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Lay out athletic fields, measure dimensions, and paint lines.
• Assist in special events preparation and setup.
• Plant flowers, shrubs and trees and perform aftercare.
• Maintain turf in parks and public grounds.
• Assist in fertilization and pesticide programs.
• Provide custodial services for maintenance buildings.
