Job summary

Maryland Turfgrass Council is seeking an Athletic Field Technician to perform skilled turf maintenance, training staff, and prep playing surfaces for high-level competition. The role emphasizes safe operation of field equipment and adherence to procedures to keep fields in top condition.

The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, a valid driver’s license, and a background in turf management or horticulture.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience and/or college degree in turf management, horticulture, parks and recreation, or a related field.
• Valid driver's license; ability to obtain Pest Control and Fertilizer certificates.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds; standing, climbing, kneeling and heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Perform athletic field and grounds maintenance including aeration, grading, topdressing, seeding, sodding, trimming, field painting, turf care, fertilizing.
• Repair infield components such as bases, pitching mounds, batter’s boxes and transition areas.
• Operate tractors and specialized equipment; train others to use equipment.
• Identify equipment needs and ensure materials are available.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
