ENTRY SALARY: $37,388.90

Under direct supervision, the Parks Service Technician is responsible for performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual work related to the care, maintenance, and beautification of parks, landscapes, grounds, and recreation facilities.

Essential Functions: The following duties, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include but are not limited to:

• Cleaning, repairing, and maintaining grounds, play areas, park properties, facilities, irrigation systems, landscaping, and athletic fields to ensure they are aesthetically pleasing and functional.
• Servicing landscaped areas by mowing, trimming, weeding, and assisting with irrigation maintenance.
• Applying, spraying chemicals, and spreading granular applications of pesticides and fertilizers safely and in compliance with regulations.

• Performing manual and minor maintenance tasks related to grounds, facilities, and park amenities.
• Servicing, cleaning, and monitoring public restrooms within parks and facilities.
• Serving as a gardener, caretaker, park maintenance worker, and janitor for departmental service needs, including customer interactions regarding facility conditions.
• Using hand tools, power tools, and equipment, and operating city vehicles such as pickup trucks and small dump trucks.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:

A valid State driver's license is required. The position involves operating equipment such as trucks, tractors, beach rakes, riding mowers, mules, backpack blowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, pressure washers, and various hand tools.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Tenth Grade education and one (1) year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in parks, landscape, or grounds maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge of:
