Job description

POSITION TITLE:
  • Parks Maintenance Worker I, or II (4 Positions).

JOB LOCATION:
  • City Maintenance Facility.
  • City of Zephyrhills.

SALARY RANGE:
Parks Maintenance Worker I:
  • $32,760.00-$45,864.00 Annual.
  • Starting Salary: $32,760.00/ $15.75/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-151.

Parks Maintenance Worker II:
  • $36,117.90-$50,565.06 Annual.
  • Starting Salary: $36,117.90 / $17.36/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-153.
  • Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT STATUS: Applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work well with the public and co-workers.
  • Applicants must be able to lift heavy objects, walk over rough or uneven surfaces, stoop, stretch, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
  • Must have knowledge of safe operations and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.

  • Parks Maintenance Worker II:
    • Above requirements in addition to: FL Right-of-Way Pesticide license within six (6) months, FSESCI within ninety (90) days, MOT within one (1) year.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Mows, trims, and fertilizes turf and plantings.
  • Individuals operate heavy equipment, turf maintenance equipment, and small hand tools.
  • Installs irrigation systems and performs maintenance on those systems.
  • Will perform light carpentry work, and paint objects and structures.
  • Workers also provide year-round landscape and planting maintenance.
  • Occasional weekend work, when required.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment.
  • Tasks completed for this position involve regular and sustained physical exertion.
  • Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver's license is also required before employment.

The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on the proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
