Job summary

The City of Bartow is seeking an experienced recreation professional to oversee staff, budgets, and program development. You will supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate staff, ensure compliance with regulations, coordinate marketing, and manage grants and reporting for park programs.

Responsibilities include coordinating events, managing facility use, and ensuring safe, accessible parks while building community relationships and overseeing daily operations of recreation facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience required; Master’s degree can substitute for one year of experience or an equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Florida flora, fauna and habitats.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license in Florida.
• Possession of Fitness Instructor certificate (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff: hires, trains, develops, schedules and evaluates.
• Ensures compliance with policies, regulations, and standards.
• Coordinates marketing efforts and prepares reports.
• Manages grants and budget development; monitors revenue.
• Promotes safe, clean parks and assists with park improvements.
