Job summary

City of Buckeye is seeking a recreation program supervisor to oversee staff and coordinate city-wide and neighborhood events, activities, and sponsorships. The role involves planning, organizing, promoting, and evaluating diverse programs to meet community needs and sponsor expectations.

Responsibilities include developing communications, assisting with grants, budgeting, reporting, and building partnerships with local groups and agencies to deliver high-quality community services.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, supervises staff and coordinates the activities of a City recreation program.
• Plans, organizes, promotes and evaluates a wide range of city-wide and neighborhood special events, alternative activities, and special programs suited to the needs of participants and potential sponsors.
• Assists with the development of various forms of communication including social media, advertisements, department brochures, newsletters, press releases and websites.
• Assists in the development of alternate funding sources; researches, writes, and administers grants; seeks and fulfills program sponsorships.
• Supervises and trains staff; prioritizes and assigns tasks; prepares work schedules; develops staff skills and conducts performance evaluations; provides direction and guidance in technical and procedural issues.
• Monitors event operations, budget and expenses to identify and resolve problems and priorities.
• Promotes, organizes and stimulates good relationships with neighborhood and community groups and other agencies; interprets and explains City programs and policies to groups and individuals, committees, staff and volunteers.
• Communicates with general public, City departments, other agencies, vendors, contractors and others in order to administer and coordinate program and facility operations and special events. Prepares presentations, educational curriculum and/or informational materials.
• Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and events in the community and coordinates with local and regional organizations to develop plans to meet the community's needs.
• Prepares operational, statistical, financial and analytical reports on recreation programs, facilities and special events; collects and summarizes statistical data for reports.
