Job summary

City of Palm Bay, FL seeks an experienced Recreation Director to lead the City's parks and recreation programs, supervise staff, manage budgets, and foster community partnerships. You will ensure high-quality services for residents and coordinate programming and events across the department.

The role requires a Bachelor's (or Associate) in a related field with extensive experience and a valid Florida driver's license; NRPA/FRPA certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation administration or related field with 6+ years of parks and recreation experience.
• Associate degree in recreation administration or related field with 10+ years of parks and recreation experience.
• Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of five years of responsible supervisory experience over personnel, finances, programming, partnerships and events.
• Certification with NRPA or FRPA as a certified Parks and Recreation Professional is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Directs professional, technical, and clerical staff; conducts performance appraisals and staffing decisions.
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees recreation programs within budget; manages grants.
• Develops and implements department goals, policies, and procedures.
• Administers department budget and monitor revenues and expenditures.
• Develops long- and short-range plans for programs and facilities to meet city growth.
• Builds partnerships and ensures high-quality customer service to the public.
• Oversees KPIs and internal controls; ensures operational integrity.
• May work during emergencies as required.
