Job summary

City of Charlottesville seeks a General Maintenance Worker to perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of buildings in city parks, recreation facilities, schools, and the Downtown Mall. The role operates under supervision and offers a competitive benefits package.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED with related maintenance experience, at least 2 years in building or general maintenance, and a Virginia driver's license.

• At least 2 years in building or general maintenance
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

• Maintains recreation facilities by performing a variety of activities, including installing lights, painting signs, buildings, bathrooms
• Operates city vehicle and maintains equipment, hand and power tools
• Follows safety regulations and maintenance standards; reports issues to supervisor
• Assists in debris and/or snow removal when necessary
• May work weekends, nights, holidays or be called back to work in emergencies
• Regular and reliable attendance

Education

2+ years of experience in building or general maintenance
