Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agriculture, turf/plant science, or related field.
• Four years of responsible park maintenance, landscaping or horticultural design experience including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, supervise, and review the work of staff responsible for repair and maintenance of park grounds and facilities.
• Establish schedules and methods for park maintenance and repair services; allocate resources accordingly.
• Participate in policy development and implementation; monitor work for compliance with policies.
• Select, motivate, and evaluate park maintenance personnel; provide or coordinate staff training.
• Prepare and administer program budgets; monitor expenditures.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of parks landscaping (flowers, turf, shrubs, trees); address horticultural issues.
• Inspect and evaluate park development, construction, and landscape plans for compliance.
• Coordinate park maintenance contracts and bid processes; liaise with architects, engineers and planners.
• Inspect park areas for safety and maintenance needs; address hazards promptly.
