Job summary

The City of Lincolnton is seeking a skilled Parks and Recreation Maintenance Supervisor to lead the grounds maintenance team across city parks, facilities, trails, and cemetery properties. This role oversees staff, schedules workloads, and ensures safety and quality in all projects.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Public Services Director, bidding on special projects, and maintaining essential systems such as irrigation, HVAC, and playground safety, while guiding staff development

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and 3-5 years’ experience general grounds and building maintenance with some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the public or private sector providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to adequately perform the essential duties.
• Experience applying OSHA regulations and safety standards on grounds maintenance work.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance activities and staff across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, assigns, and supervises the work of full-time and part-time park and recreation maintenance staff.
• Provides technical advice to the Public Services Director in planning for maintenance repairs and/or improvements to the parks and related facilities.
• Works with contractors and takes bids for special projects and monitors project while on-going.
• Participates in hiring and training of staff.
• Coaches staff on job performance and evaluates performance.
• Conducts on-site inspections of work projects and ensures compliance with work goals.
• Creates, assigns, and completes daily work orders/reports.
• Evaluates workplace safety conditions and application of safety measures for OSHA compliance.
• Ensures proper operation of park ground’s sprinkler systems and heating/air systems.
• Ensures the functional capacity of playground equipment, and the safety of such equipment; performs monthly inspections.
