Town of Gilbert is seeking a Parks Mechanic for a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position that emphasizes safety, customer service, and ongoing professional development in park equipment maintenance.

The role maintains and repairs a wide range of parks equipment, including mowers and small engines, while supporting field staff and coordinating with the Parks Supervisor and fellow staff to ensure reliable daily operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years' experience in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, including welding and fabrication.
• 5 years' experience in repair and maintenance of light-duty vehicles.
• Arizona driver’s license required.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of parks equipment (mowers, tractors, utility vehicles).
• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
• Maintain organized shop, manage parts inventory, and respond to service requests in a timely manner.
• Assist with equipment transport, seasonal prep, and documentation of maintenance activities.
• Prioritize tasks, ensure safety, and collaborate with team members.
