Job summary

City of New Port Richey is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker I to join the Public Works - Grounds Maintenance team. This role supports day-to-day parks operations, facility upkeep, and event preparation, with duties ranging from cleaning to equipment care.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, basic tool knowledge, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Valid FL driver license and CPR/First Aid readiness preferred; on-call 24/7 as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; entry level position.
• Experience with hand and power tools and general maintenance knowledge desired.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of parks and park facilities.
• Assist in preparing facilities for classes and special events.
• Perform maintenance and custodial duties in parks and park facilities.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of equipment.
• Submit written requests for supplies and materials.
• Assist in special events as scheduled.
• Detect safety risks and hazards and devise corrective measures.
• Follow policies and procedures set by Public Works.
• Recognize emergency situations and act as required.
• Remain on call for personnel, maintenance, security and emergencies 24/7.
