Job summary

City of Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated grounds maintenance worker to join a crew responsible for parks, landscape, and facility upkeep. You’ll use hand and power tools to repair, maintain, and prepare sites for events, mowing, trimming, and cleaning as part of a city team.

Responsibilities include assisting with debris removal, loading supplies, and following safety procedures. A high school diploma and basic grounds work experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience performing general grounds maintenance.
• Experience mowing, weed eating, pruning, trimming and edging across city properties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with trash removal, street repairs and event setup using hand and power tools.
• Perform landscaping tasks: mowing, trimming, weed control, raking leaves with mowers and trimmers.
• Maintain municipal grounds and prepare sites for city events.
• Move furniture, clean storage areas, and assist with cleaning and painting.
• Ensure safety and proper storage of supplies and equipment; perform routine equipment checks.
