Job summary

City of Zephyrhills is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker I at the City Maintenance Facility to perform turf care, irrigation maintenance, and related landscape tasks. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to operate heavy equipment, and a Florida driver license; a CDL with air brake endorsement must be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work well with the public and co-workers.
• Applicants must be able to lift heavy objects, walk over rough or uneven surfaces, stoop, stretch, kneel and work in confined spaces.
• Must have knowledge of safe operations and routine maintenance of equipment.
• FL Right-of-Way Pesticide license within six (6) months, FSESCI within ninety (90) days, MOT within one (1) year.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims and fertilizes turf and plantings. Individuals operate heavy equipment, turf maintenance equipment and small hand tools.
• Installs irrigation systems and performs maintenance on those systems.
• Will perform light carpentry work, paint objects and structures.
• Workers also provide year-round landscape and planting maintenance.
• Occasional weekend work, when required. Completes other related duties as assigned.
