Job summary

The City of Rochester publicly seeks a full-time Parks General Laborer to perform a variety of landscape tasks in city parks, including mowing, trimming, trash removal, and tree work. The role requires operating heavy equipment, lifting up to 80 pounds, and following Forester instructions for tree growth and safety standards.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an emphasis on safety and customer relations with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Michigan CDL Class B with N endorsement and air brakes or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, mulch, water, and restore parkways after maintenance.
• Operates trucks, brushes/trash collection, and loads in chipper as needed.
• Planting, pruning trees and maintaining safety and cleanliness of parks.
• Communicate with residents and city staff; follow safety procedures.
