Job summary

Upper Darby Township is seeking an Assistant Foreman for the Parks Division to lead daily maintenance across parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and public spaces. This hands-on supervisory role combines field leadership with operational oversight and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least ten years of parks maintenance experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; valid driver’s license.
• Minimum ten (10) years in parks maintenance including playground equipment installation, maintenance, and inspection.
• Experience reading maps, navigating township roadways, supervising staff, and scheduling maintenance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, park structures, trails, and grounds.
• Direct crews in mowing, pruning, mulching, planting, weed/insect control, equipment operation, and repairs.
• Assist with procurement and inventory; ensure adherence to safety procedures.
• Respond to emergencies, snow/ice operations, and seasonal weather events.
• Coordinate activities with Public Works and interact with residents.
