Job summary

County of Lancaster seeks a supervisor to lead a crew in the County Park system, directing tree care, trail maintenance, and bridge upkeep. You will supervise staff, coordinate with Grounds Superintendent, and ensure safety and compliance across facilities.

Essential duties include operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance, and using a computer for work orders and reporting. This role requires flexibility for weekend/holiday work and potential emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BS in Forest Science, Urban Forestry, or related field preferred.
• One year experience or internship in arboricultural or park-related work.
• Computer skills including email and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Previous supervisory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs tree care and removal on all properties; operates bucket truck and climbs trees as needed.
• Leads and directs trail maintenance on county Park trails.
• Leads and directs maintenance and minor repairs to county-owned bridges.
• Maintains bridge signs per NBIS inspections.
• Documents daily park and bridge activities in a work order system and tracks mileage.
