Job summary

The City of Victoria TX is seeking an entry-level Parks & Recreation Maintenance Worker I to help maintain and improve city parks, athletic fields, facilities, and landscaped areas. This role requires outdoor work, physical activity, and a Saturday–Wednesday shift with team priorities guiding daily tasks.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, debris removal, plant care, restroom sanitation, equipment operation, and assisting with events.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience in park maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance preferred.
Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Mows, trims, and edges grass areas in parks and athletic fields using mowers and power equipment.
Blows debris from sidewalks, collects litter, and maintains cleanliness of public spaces.
Assists with tree, shrub, planting, and flower bed maintenance.
Performs playground inspections and sanitary cleaning to ensure safety.
Operates light equipment and maintains tools and equipment.
Supports event preparation and cleanup and participates in community improvement projects.
