Job summary

The City of Victoria TX invites applications for a Parks & Recreation Maintenance Worker I to perform entry-level duties maintaining city parks, athletic fields, facilities and landscaped areas. Work may vary with seasons and priorities within the Parks & Recreation Department.

The role includes mowing, trimming, equipment operation, playground inspections, graffiti removal, and event support, all while following safety regulations and city policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in park maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance preferred.
• Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims, and edges grass areas in parks and athletic fields using mowers and power tools.
• Blows debris from sidewalks and walkways and collects litter from public spaces.
• Assists with tree and shrub maintenance including trimming, pruning, and removal.
• Performs planting, watering, and transplanting of flowers, trees, and shrubs as assigned.
• Conducts playground inspections and sanitary cleaning to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Pressure washes playgrounds, bleachers, stands, and public areas; assists with graffiti removal.
• Performs basic maintenance and field prep for athletic events including raking and chalking lines.
• Maintains and cleans park restrooms by sanitizing fixtures and restocking supplies.
