Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking a Parks Maintenance Technician to join the Public Works Department, Parks Division. You will maintain grounds, parks, and infrastructure along parkways, medians, and rights‑of‑way, and support park cleanliness and facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma and 2 years of maintenance experience. You will operate equipment, manage work orders in the EAM system, and ensure safety and quality in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Two years of maintenance experience in related field.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.
• Forklift license may be required for some assignments.
• Licensing as a qualified pesticide applicator may be required for some assignments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, grounds, and infrastructure in municipal parks and rights‑of‑way.
• Inspect parks and facilities for maintenance, safety, vandalism, and repairs; document findings.
• Use the City's EAM system to manage work orders and inspections.
• Clean and maintain public restrooms and perform custodial duties.
• Remove trash and debris from parks and rights‑of‑way.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, edge, fertilize lawns and plant beds; manage irrigation; apply pesticides/herbicides.
• Assist in playground equipment installation/repair; maintain athletic fields; graffiti removal; rodent abatement.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment; operate related machinery.
• Operate hand and power tools; implement traffic control at job sites.
• Maintain activity logs and enter data; follow safety rules and procedures.
• Be ready for standby and overtime as workload requires.
