Job summary

The City of Apple Valley, MN is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform heavy manual labor and operate equipment across parks, fields, ice rinks, pools, and trails. Responsibilities include irrigation, plant care, and sign maintenance, with occasional snow plowing and equipment repairs.

Must have a Class B CDL or be willing to obtain one within 12 months, along with a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work weekends and extended shifts as required by city maintenance demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class B CDL with tanker endorsement or obtain within 12 months.
• Valid driver''s license and clean driving record.
• Strong mechanical ability.
• Experience operating and maintaining parks maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge or education in greens industry.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team.
• Ability to follow safe work practices.
• DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing compliance.
• Maintenance II: 18 months municipal parks maintenance experience; Class B CDL with tanker endorsement; computer aptitude with parks software.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks for parks maintenance including equipment operation, manual labor, mowing, forklift, backhoe, and snowplowing.
• Perform installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, athletic fields, ice rinks, playgrounds, and trails.
• Care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and plants; seed, sod, and plant; mow and aerate.
