Job summary

City & Borough of Sitka Alaska is seeking a part-time park maintenance worker to support the Parks & Recreation Department. Starting wage is $16.82 to $20.60 per hour, with opportunities to perform ground maintenance, mowing, edging, trimming, and litter control.

You will assist with landscaping tasks, organize equipment, operate light to medium tools, and follow safety procedures. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Ability to interact professionally with public and coworkers.
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Mow with push mower, edge, and weed eater; trim trees and shrubs; dig; clean and maintain equipment; manage litter control.
• Assist with landscaping tasks: lay sod, plant, water, weed control; operate small tools.
• Organize and maintain equipment and supplies for daily assignments.
• Perform general labor and operate light to medium tools; lift as required.
• Clean and maintain restroom facilities; perform other duties as assigned.
