Job summary

The City and Borough of Sitka is hiring temporary workers to assist full-time staff with seasonal parks and grounds maintenance. These positions perform a variety of duties focused on the maintenance and beautification of City parks, athletic fields, lawns, gardens, and trails.

Preferred experience includes operation and maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools; riding & push lawn mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, push spreaders, chain saws, pole saws, and pruners.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and beautification of City parks, athletic fields, lawns, gardens, and trails.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment as needed.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Other equipment and skills include tractor operation, trailering, power-washing, painting, tree care, and weed control.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old; HS diploma or GED; and possess a valid driver's license.

Applicants must have the ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor outside in potentially adverse weather conditions.
