Job summary

Gurnee Park District in Gurnee, IL is seeking a Trades & Construction Supervisor to lead a skilled team, manage district-wide construction and maintenance, and advance capital improvement plans. The role oversees projects from bid to completion, ensures compliance with ADA, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, and coordinates with consultants and other departments.

Candidates should have a BA/BS in relevant field (preferred) and at least five years of supervisory experience in public

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Parks and Recreation Management, Construction Management, Training & Organizational Development, or related field (preferred).
• Five years of supervisory experience in public park management or construction management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations including OSHA and local/state laws.
• Driver's license required; CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days; CPSI within 12 months; CPO within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Manage all construction projects and preventative maintenance programs for district facilities, playgrounds and site amenities.
• Supervise Trades and Construction staff including scheduling and training to ensure safe, on-budget execution.
• Develop and implement the district's Capital Improvement Plan and related schedules.
• Prepare project costs, bids, and contract documents; coordinate with consultants and staff.
• Ensure ADA compliance and safety standards across all parks and facilities.
• Coordinate with other departments and external agencies on projects and standards.
