Job summary

City of Evanston is seeking a Lead Facilities Tradesworker to perform highly skilled maintenance, construction, alteration and repair of City-owned buildings. This role serves as a field lead on projects and coordinates multiple trades to ensure timely, quality outcomes.

Applicants must have journey-level proficiency in at least one trade, a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent, and at least five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience performing skilled facilities construction, maintenance or repair work.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly skilled maintenance, construction, alteration, installation and repair work within area of demonstrated trade expertise.
• Acts as field or project lead for facilities projects involving multiple trades.
• Coordinates work assignments among skilled trades employees based on project requirements and priorities.
• Provides day-to-day work direction, monitors progress and ensures quality and safety.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, specifications and manuals.
