Job summary

UNC Chapel Hill is seeking a Building Environmental Services Technician to maintain clean, safe parking decks for students, staff and visitors. You will perform custodial tasks, operate cleaning equipment, and support daily upkeep across multiple levels.

Responsibilities include deep cleaning like power washing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in varying weather. Prior experience with power sweepers is preferred; strong customer service is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Previous experience in operating a rear-steered utility vehicle (power sweeper). Possess good customer service and communication skills.
• This position requires ability to lift/move 50 lbs and work outdoors, including in adverse weather.

Responsibilities

• This position supports the daily cleaning and upkeep of UNC’s parking decks to ensure safe and clean facilities for students, staff, and visitors.
• Duties include custodial tasks, sweeping drive aisles and stairwells, cleaning elevators and lobbies, and maintaining common areas; operates equipment such as blowers and ride-on sweepers.
• Performs periodic deep cleaning tasks such as power washing stairwells and wiping handrails; responds to adverse weather events to ensure safe access.
