Job summary

UPMC is seeking a parking services attendant to support hospital operations and provide a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for patients and visitors.

This role requires courteous service, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to follow directions while handling keys, radios, and parking logistics across a 24/7 operation. Flexibility for hours beyond the standard shifts may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Driver's License required.
• Act 34 clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and address all patients and others in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
• Operate the department's radios as per the established procedures.
• Operate all vehicles entrusted to the valet service in a safe and responsible manner.
• Store keys as per departmental procedure.
• Notify the parking supervisor of any damage to a vehicle immediately.
• Convey respect, courtesy, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude in interactions.
• Ensure information is completed on tags and the log sheet.
• Assist with parking and traffic control in designated valet areas as directed.
• Respond to directions from supervisors and team leaders.
• Report for duty on time and in uniform.

Job description

Purpose:

Support the daily operations of the hospital's parking services while providing a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for patients and visitors. This role is responsible for the careful operation of patient and visitor vehicles, with a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.

• Parking operations are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


• Approximately 90% of employees work Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.


• Flexibility may be required to support operational needs outside of these hours.

Responsibilities:

• Request approval from the parking supervisor prior to taking any breaks.


• Greet and address all patients and others in a courteous and professional manner at all times.


• Operate the department's radios as per the established procedures.


• Operate all vehicles entrusted to the valet service in a safe and responsible manner.


• Store keys as per departmental procedure.


• Immediately notify the parking supervisor of any damage done to a vehicle.


• Adhere to the philosophy and standards of the business unit to include conveying respect, courtesy, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude in work situations with patients, peers, medical staff, and visitors.


• Ensure that all necessary information is completed on the tags and on the log sheet.


• Assist with parking and traffic control in designated valet parking areas as directed by the customer service team leader and/or the parking supervisor.


• Respond to directions from the customer service team leader and/or the parking supervisor.


• Respond to driveway/garage to transport vehicles as quickly as possible.


• Report for duty on time and in uniform.

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
