Job summary

Water Resources Office in Missoula, Montana, seeks a Maintenance Worker 2 to support the Parks and Outdoor Recreation Division. The role focuses on maintaining habitat areas, facilities, and grounds at state parks, fishing access sites, and wildlife management areas in the Blackfoot drainage.

You will gain experience in building and maintaining fences, weed control in remote terrain, GPS mapping, and operating various heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general maintenance and construction work for buildings, facilities and grounds.
• Experience with weed management and mapping weed infestations.
• Ability to use GPS to log spray tracts and waypoints.
• Understanding of Montana Noxious weeds and appropriate herbicides.
• Comfort working in remote areas with wildlife, including bears.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and improve habitat areas and vegetation as well as grounds and facilities at state parks, fishing access sites, and WMAs.
• Lead maintenance tasks and coordinate routines with regional staff.
• Assist in establishing workflows for regular tasks and multi-geographic duties.
• Operate and maintain water, septic, boiler systems (preferred).
• Record maintenance logs and personnel reports using spreadsheets.
